Tribute to the Virginia Cookery

Wonderful "Old Virginia" recipes!

This recipe has been a classic in my family – from generation to generation. Holiday time is coming soon. Get ready! Just know that you will have to double-up on these cookies – they go fast. Dangerously delicious… and so simple.

1/2 Cup  butter                                                        1 Cup broken pecans
3 Tbls confectioners’ sugar                                 2 Tbls ice water
1 Cup sifted flour                                                     1 Teas vanilla

Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla, flour, nuts and ice water. Shape in little finger-sized, crescent moon pieces and bake at 400 degrees for approx. 10 minutes. When almost cold, roll in confectioners’ sugar.

From the Woman’s Auxiliary, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Covington, Virginia.

(BTW – If you are a single woman, this recipe will land you a husband!)
